Buenos Aires… where do we begin? We fell in love with the city and didn’t want to leave (this might be a common theme for every South American city that we visit!).
Buenos Aires was the perfect first stop on our adventure. It has a very European feel and we felt at home straight away. Our home for the week was an apartment located in trendy Palermo neighbourhood – filled with bars, restaurants and parks.
The food has been far too delicious (and unhealthy) to resist – we’ve tried choripan (chorizo sandwich), alfajor (sweet biscuits sandwiched together with dulce de leche) and much more. And of course we haven’t had a lack of steak and Mendozan malbec!
The city is huge and we walked over 20,000 steps every day, but we took our time (with many beer stops, of course) and visited the following:
- Microcentro – business district, beautiful squares and buildings (and many protests!)
- Recoleta – famous cemetary, parks and some brilliant dog walkers
- MALBA (Latin American Art Museum) – interesting modern art
- La Boca – colourful, edgy and lively neighbourhood – home to Boca Juniors
- San Telmo – bohemian feel, huge market on Sundays and the home of tango
Next stop… Iguazú falls!
